Event Description

We will be attending 2nd Saturday at CSU Spur. This event is a great opportunity to engage with the community, capture interactions, and inform attendees about the Denver Climate Project: One Effect. We'll be setting up a 10x10 tent booth in a high-traffic area.

Reminders for the team:
Don't stand behind the table waiting for attendees to approach, be active in bringing people over. Also, leave space between each conversation, as audio tends to overlap when groups are too close together.

Event Background:

2nd Saturdays at CSU Spur, presented by Canvas Credit Union, are free and open to the public for lots of family-friendly programming, including:

  • Cooking activities in the CSU Spur kitchen.
  • Watching veterinarians at work.
  • Observing horses assisting with human therapies.
  • not to stand behind the table waiting for consumers;
  • Playing in the mock kitchen, mock vet clinic, and mock lab.
  • Getting your hands dirty in the stream table.
  • Exploring the world of virtual reality (ages 9+).
  • Strolling through the rooftop greenhouse.
  • And more!

Logistics:

  • Unloading/loading: You can temporarily park along the street of the building where you are stationed (see the list below). When you are done unloading, to avoid being towed, please move your car to the large lot north of the Vida building and head to your station to set up.
  • What you will bring: Activity materials and/or supplies for at least 600 people. Please make sure to bring any tablecloths or table protective covers to keep our tables as clean as possible. If your activity involves paint, please bring a floor tarp or similar items to keep the area around the table clean as well. Only bring water-based paints that are easy to wash off, and bring cleaning supplies, as needed for your activities. If you are using markers, please let me know so that we can provide you with a protective table cover. Please let us know if you think your activity will have an impact on surrounding groups (moving equipment, music, etc.) and please be aware we do not allow glitter on campus.
  • Lunch: Please plan to pack lunch or snacks that you might want throughout the day and a water bottle. A Spur staff member can let you into a breakroom in your assigned building if you need a refrigerator or microwave. Our onsite café, Little Finch, will open at 9:30 AM. They have a coffee bar, and sell other beverages, light snacks, and lunch options.

Logistics

Logistics: Pickup & Returns
Pickup and returns of the iPads and uniforms are the responsibility of the lead brand ambassador for each event. If you are the lead, this is on you. Plan one trip to Saltbox to grab everything the team needs before the event, and make sure it all gets back afterward.

Pickup location: Saltbox Denver, 4800 Dahlia St, Denver, CO 80216. This is where the lead grabs both the iPads and the uniforms.

Building access: Call Shanna Cronin at 720.443.9793 to get let into the building. Call ahead so she can plan ahead and provide you access to the building.
iPads
Grab them charged.
iPads are charged at Saltbox, so they should be ready to go at pickup. Confirm each one is fully charged before you leave.
Keep them safe. The lead is responsible for the iPads during the shift and for getting them back to Saltbox afterward.
Return them the right way. When you bring iPads back, plug each one in to charge and place it in its correct slot. Do not just set them down. They need to be charging and organized for the next team.
Problems? If an iPad, app, or login is not working, call your manager right away. Do not try to work the event without it.Uniforms

One set per person.
Each team member gets one shirt and one hat only, picked up from Saltbox with the iPads.Return for washing. If a team member is not working another event soon, their shirt comes back to Saltbox so it can be washed and reassigned.Working multiple events? They can hold onto it, but it needs to be washed and ready to go for the next one.Either way, it comes back. The shirts always make it back to Saltbox when events are done, and the lead makes sure that happens.

Getting
the Shot

1

Watch It Back

Review every video before you submit. Assume the client watches all of them (because she does) and will reject anything that isn't perfect.

2

Full Phrase, Every Time

Confirm they said the whole phrase, word for word, with "I'm" fully captured at the start.

3

Count Down With Your Hand

Use hand signals instead of counting out loud. Your voice in the audio is an automatic reject.

4

Give Them a Beat

Add a one second buffer before they start so nobody jumps the gun.

5

Spread Out

Put space between you and the next team member so their audio doesn't bleed into your shot.

6

Waist Up, Close In

Frame from the waist up and stand closer than feels natural. Closer is better.

On the
Ground

1

Standing or Sitting Only

No videos of anyone lying down. They can't be used.

2

Don't film anyone who is visibly unhoused or in distress. Participants should be clear headed and appropriately dressed.

3

Sticker for Everyone

Every single participant gets a sticker. No exceptions.

4

Push the QR Code

Direct people to scan. Don't wait for them to ask.

5

Keep the iPads Cool

Use the backpacks and ice packs between captures and out of direct sunlight.
